APPRENTICES

** Please note! Students entering 9th grade in the fall of 2022 can ONLY apply to be an Apprentice if they have been an SFOA student for at least 3 years. The Apprentice Program is open to any student entering 10th grade **

Apprentices play a vital role at SFOA, and we feel privileged to have you in the program. Those entering the ninth grade will have a two-year apprentice experience, as we feel there is value in extending the observation and mentoring process that being an apprentice is known for. By making a commitment to observe and study different teaching styles, as well as continue your own artistic pursuits, you help create a future staff that truly understands and appreciates the goals of SFOA. Additionally, one of the MOST vital roles an apprentice plays is that of being a ROLE MODEL for the younger campers. Towards that end, we expect that the SFOA apprentice will absolutely follow safe and appropriate practices in their daily camp schedules.

This year, the apprentices will assist with the virtual options being offered. Additional details will be forthcoming. Please send an email to CampDirector@sfoamaine.org if you wish to be considered for the apprentice program.

parent Orientation**

Saturday, July 2, 2022 2:00 - 3:00 pm, MDI High School Auditorium

**OPTIONAL for any/all students and families

Orientation Day gives any students and families who have questions or concerns a chance to connect with SFOA administrators and teachers! Have a questions regarding our set-up and safety? This will be your opportunity to see what this summer camp will be like. So whether it's your first year or your fifth, feel free to come visit us on Orientation Day!

Transportation

We will offer an on-island and off-island bus this summer. Parents may register their child(ren) at a later date.

Lunch & SNACKS

Lunch and snacks should be brought each day by campers. SFOA will have water available throughout the day.

After-Hours Care

SFOA is offering after-hours care from 3:00-5:30 pm.

Safety

SFOA makes every effort to keep our campers safe! To that end, we ask that you fill out the medical release form completely and return with registration forms. Your child does not need a medical exam to attend SFOA, but we do need to know the dates of his or her last immunizations including COVID 19 vaccinations and boosters. In case of emergency, our staff nurse will contact the appropriate parents/ guardians immediately, and if for any reason deemed necessary, student will be taken to MDI Hospital in Bar Harbor.

Visitors

SFOA will NOT allow visitors to attend camp this year.
