KINDERGARTEN - 4TH GRADE

MUSICAL THEATER w/ Makayla Corrigan
(9am - 1pm)

Open to Kindergarten - 4th grade. Join us for the SFOA Variety Hour. Campers will perform a number of collaborative songs and dances. Some will partner with other campers and others will perform solo! Campers will create their own tap into their inner artist and help design their costumes with supplies from home.

Talent will be on display when the FINALE takes place on Saturday, February 26th at the 1932 Criterion Theatre in Bar Harbor.

Your Musical Theater teacher is Makalya Corrigan
Makayla is an artist and educator from Rhode Island. After spending a year studying illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design she moved to Mount Desert Island where she received a degree in Human Ecology from College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor in 2021.

Makayla has spend most of her life studying ballet and contemporary dance along with illustration and food systems. She now lives on the island teaching art and dance at ArtWaves along with working closely with local farms as Farm Drop coordinator at Healthy Acadia.

Your Musical Theater assistant teacher is Claire Sanner
Claire is a native of Bar Harbor, and is in her senior year at MDI High School. She has performed in plays and musicals with Acadia Community Theater since the age of 8, including in roles such as Savannah in Freaky Friday, and Miss Honey in Matilda, and on the high school stage in her freshman and sophomore years, starring as Rosie in Mamma Mia in 2019. She has been in show choir since fifth grade, and in the high school’s Mixed Ensemble all four of her years at the high school, earning the role of assistant director for the past two. She studies dance and assists Tami with the younger kids at 2 Shoes Dance. She has studied voice with Danielle Woerner, and plays flute and piccolo with the high school band.


AN AFTERNOON OF VISUAL ARTS (1pm - 5pm)

Open to Kindergarten - 4th. We dive into the many aspects of creating art. Campers will tap into their inner artist. Each day we will present your camper with a design challenge. Visual Arts will take place at the Bar Harbor Congregational Church.
Fruits from the week will be displayed at the FINALE on Saturday, February
26th at the 1932 Criterion Theatre in Bar Harbor.
