NIMBUS DANCE

Nimbus Dance bridges the gap between world-class performances and community engagement by presenting work that challenges, speaks to, and elevates the core beliefs of its diverse audience.

Founded in 2005 by Samuel Pott and based in Jersey City, Nimbus has been at the forefront of excellence in the arts, civic engagement, and equitable impact, successfully interweaving its mission between Company, School, and Presenting wings. Nimbus' repertory of over 30 works, called “Sophisticated and engaging” (Newark Star-Ledger) and named among "Best performances of 2016" (Huffington Post) are performed on tour nationally and throughout the greater New Jersey/New York region, impacting 16,000 people each year.

In 2019 Nimbus founded the Acadia Dance Festival with Bar Harbor's Criterion Theatre - bringing world class dance to Downeast Maine, supporting the work of local dance artists and providing educational opportunities for local youth. Most recently, Nimbus was a recipient of DanceNYC’s Dance Advancement Fund in recognition of the company’s demonstrated commitment to diversity, justice, equity, and inclusion. In May 2020, Nimbus will relocate to the new state-of-the-art Nimbus Arts Center at the Lively in Jersey City’s Powerhouse Arts District.

deb and cynthia andrews

Deb Andrews followed her daughter, Cynthia Andrews, into the world of competitive vaulting when Cynthia started vaulting in 2006 on MDI. They began coaching together 2013; Deb coaches and lunges the horse; Cynthia coaches and works more directly with the vaulters.Cynthia and Deb coach together – the only mother daughter led team in the US! They also lead clinics and give demos to promote the sport in Maine.

Cynthia is a Certified FEI Vaulting Coach, Certified EMT, and a Bronze level vaulter. She has competed and trained regionally and nationally for 13 years. In March 2019 Cynthia will also be a Certified Fitness Trainer. She says: “Being one with the horse and having the wind in my hair, makes me proud to be strong, and I love to share that passion with our vaulters.”

Debra is CHA Certified Vaulting Coach, Certified FEI Vaulting Coach, & Red Cross Certified in FA/CPR. She holds a BA in Child Development and is a former jazz, ethnic & ballet dancer. She says: “I love helping youth find confidence and joy from vaulting. Giving them the opportunity to explore vaulting is awesome!”
