Here's the Scoop: Telling the Stories In and Around You

Instructor Jenna Beaulieu

Mornings 9am - 12pm @ ArtWaves

Open to ages 8 to 14

Cost: $100 for the week

We are all surrounded by stories – the ones we make up inside our heads, the ones we tell ourselves to feel better or make ourselves laugh, the ones we hear from others, and also stories that we hear through the media and entertainment: the news, podcasts, radio, and more. What’s a good way to tell stories to others? Is there some kind of code for getting it right? And how do you even choose the stories you want to tell?

Join your peers and instructor in an exploration of story subjects, characters, ideas, and forms. Wait – forms? Yes! Forms contain the story, and each writer will have the opportunity to choose whichever forms they’d like to tell their stories, including (but not limited to): spoken and written poetry, short story, flash fiction, graphic novel, journaling, personal essay, op-ed, news article, a script for a play, and song lyrics. The week will culminate in a voluntary reading. Within a week after the final day, a collected works will be available to purchase.
